Is the new Clowns Management Planning Major Changes?

Indianapolis Observer

INDIANAPOLIS— It’s about time the BPLA take time and welcome new management to Indianapolis. Since I’m the league writer I’ll take care of that. Welcome to the BPLA new Indianapolis management. Rumors continue to swirl that this management is looking forward to making the Clowns a force in the BPLA. I have inside information that allows me to say that massive changes will be taking place.

The first change, which is already under progress, is to provide a better name and logo to the Indianapolis franchise. After all the criticism I gave to the old logo I’m glad to see the new owner and his colleagues are listening. I like owners that listen to a talented writer. I believe that the logo and name change alone will bring about higher attendance and merchandise revenues. Clowns are so blah and irrelevant to the city of Indianapolis and the state of Indiana. From what I hear management is leaning towards a more hip and vicious name, a name that will draw the youth of Indiana to the stadium and allow for a younger fan base. Rumors around the league continue to persist that the new franchise name will be the CarJackas. Although no one is confirming these reports many BPLA insiders believe that this will be the official name.

Secondly, from what I hear, Indianapolis management is looking to lower payroll and attempt to stockpile youth in a weak minor league system. According to various other GMs this will be tough. Many teams refuse to part with young players unless they are certain the player they are getting back will lead them to the promise land. I believe that this change in philosophy will benefit the Clowns not only now but also in the future. The players on the Clowns are becoming older and a championship does not look like a possibility anytime soon. Although nobody on the Clowns has mentioned this, the club will be having a fire sale. This means that teams looking to upgrade no exactly which team to call. The majority of the players will be available and can be easily had. Rumors also continue to surface about the future of superstar and ace, Pedro Martinez. Many believe that Martinez would also be on the block if not for his no-trade clause. The Clowns are trying to persuade Martinez to waive this clause so that a potential deal can be worked out with another team. As of this moment, Martinez is adamant on keeping this clause. The reasoning is because his family lives in the area and he doesn’t want to move them around. If Martinez agrees in waiving the clause, look for the Clowns to unload his hefty contract.

Finally, word out of Indianapolis is that the Clowns will be major players in the free agent hunt. The new owner has a ton of money and doesn’t mind spending it on quality or marquee players who fit into the youth movement philosophy. Considering that there are a ton of good players available, the Clowns might hit the jackpot. Personally, I suggest the Clowns pluck one or two studs out of this year’s free agent class and build around them. The combination of the youth movement and the presence of veteran leadership will make the Clowns a serious threat down the road. Just talking about the potential of the Clowns makes my goose bumps stand on end.

Personally, I believe that the Indianapolis Clowns are on the verge of shaking the entire foundation of the BPLA. The Clowns are believed interested in unloading major salary and look forward to starting from scratch. If this happens the quality of the teams in the BPLA will become better. Thus, providing a more competitive league. All I have to say is that if these rumors are true, the Clowns will be a welcome addition to the league. Leagues are always looking for active GMs and owners. If the Clowns management is even half as what they’re made out to be, the league is blessed to have such a committed management staff on hand.
