Blame it on Bosque.

The Toronto Star

TORONTO— Although my good friend Robert Chapman wrote about increasing salaries and payrolls, he forgot about singling out one man, John Bosque. Bosque caused a huge controversy after the first days of free agency by signing a hefty contract, which he did not deserve, with the Las Vegas Mirage. It’s these actions that get me all riled up and upset with professional athletes.

What’s with John Bosque? The thirty-five year old geezer started all this controversy by signing a massive, massive four-year contract with the Las Vegas Mirage. He signed for a whopping twelve million per season. That is ridiculous considering his age and the fact that he went to a rebuilding team. I’ve also heard sources that another team, who I will not mention, wanted to offer him a sixteen million dollar contract but he turned it down. What kind of player turns down a sixteen million dollar contract? I don’t believe when athletes say that it’s not about the money. I got a newsflash for all of you. It’s always about the money. By Bosque not accepting this contract, it goes to show that he knew that after two years he was done. He signed a huge contract to save his own behind. Sure, many believe that I’m mad because Bosque not signing with Indianapolis halted a massive trade. That’s not true. Just because I’m a huge Indianapolis fan and support everything they do, it doesn’t mean that I’m bitter because Bosque didn’t come to Indianapolis? I’m mad because Bosque is a greedy man who wants nothing more than to get paid twelve million a season for four years because he knows after this season he no longer will be any good. He only wants to take up payroll on a vulnerable team. What kind of sick, twisted individual pulls off such shenanigans? The answer is simple John Bosque.

In a time when salaries are sky rocketing. John Bosque comes out of this whole situation looking like a hero. He looks like a guy who took a pay-cut to play for a team that offered him more years. However, what everyone forgets is that he’s the one who started this mess of high salaries. It was his lucrative deal that paved way for players making huge amounts of money. Case and point, 2B Oreo Johnson, a castaway prospect from the Carjackas organization. He only had a minor league contract all of a sudden he makes 1.5 million dollars without ever playing a single major league game. Who’s to blame? Oreo or Bosque? I’ll take Bosque. The next player was another Carjackas player by the name of Richard Parker. Although Parker is four times the player Johnson is, his contract was also too lucrative. After making a paltry 900, 000 for the Carjackas, Mr. Parker went out and signed a five-year deal worth twenty-five million dollars. If my math is correct that works out to about five million per season. Again, all because of Bosque’s huge demand, one of my biggest critics justified Bosque’s actions by saying that he got paid less than last year.  I don’t care, he was over-paid last year and he’s over-paid now. Geezers like him only deserve a maximum of 8 million per season. People reading this, are probably asking, why I hate John Bosque so much? My answer is this. No matter what you do or where you work, everyone is cool, however, there is always one punk who wants better treatment than the others and always gets what he wants. Hence, starting a reaction that makes everyone a punk. In the BPLA that punk is John Bosque. I feel bad for the Las Vegas Mirage owner who got suckered by this lug to pay him twelve million per season. If I was the Las Vegas GM I would’ve laughed at Bosque and told him to find a job somewhere else. There’s no room for greedy, selfish players like Bosque in the BPLA. All I have to say is this, the BPLA needs to control salaries before another Bosque comes out and ruins everything. From the look of things it might be too late. Bad boy Greg “Toe” Nash is demanding the same kind of treatment that Bosque got. This shows that my theory holds true. Hopefully, somehow Nash doesn’t get the huge deal that he’s looking for.

Which leaves me with one question. What would happen to the state of the BPLA if these players had agents? I’ll let you guys discuss amongst yourselves.
