Top 5 players that don't deserve jobs in the BPLA

Top 5 Archive

1.  Robert Thanders - C - POR
Yes, has managed to hit 10 home runs, but he is hitting a paltry .168, with a whopping .531 OPS, all while playing a mediocre catcher and batting fifth in the Blades lineup.  A lineup of 9 Thanders would only score 2.1 runs a game, and would likely lose every day.
2.  David Christiansen - P - VAN
His three wins are only due to the 6.1 run support he receives from the run happy Jolts, and his league high 7.17 ERA is ridiculous even in Vancouver.  His .371 opposing average is 40 points higher than the next worst pitcher, and he has allowed 42 percent of hitters to reach base against him.  His 3 quality starts out of 18 give him a league worst 16.7% quality start percentage.
3.  Douglas Smith - 1B - RCH
He plays a power position, and his numbers don't show that Verizon Mobile is hurting his numbers at all.  He is still hitting under .200 for the season, has a dismal .549 OPS and continues to get worse month by month.  Add to that him not even being a great defender and his play looks even shakier.
4.  Douglas Mader - SS - COL
He can't hit, he can hit lefties even less, and his speed is wasted by the fact that he reaches base less than 30 percent of the time.  His case would be helped if he were a slick fielding middle infielder, but he has committed more errors than any other shortstop in the league.  Yes, he has the range, but if he is just going to throw the ball away, it would be better to get through to left.
5.  Ferdinand Castillo - P- CAL
He has since been moved out of the starting rotation by the Crusaders, but the damage he did while there is irreversible.  His only real upside is that he doesn't allow a lot of home runs, but that is due in most part to his facing mostly right handers and Big Rock's deep leftfield.  He has walked 7 more hitters than he has struck out (50-43) and has allowed a disgraceful 17.3 runners per 9 innings.
