Top 5 players that got snubbed by the All-Star Game | |
1. Ellsworth Moris - OF - RAL So what if he doesn't hit a lot of home runs. The Eastern Conference's best leadoff man had to sit at home and watch the power hitting Bautista hit in his spot, just so Lance Berkman could hit in the nine spot. The guy has stolen 43 bases already, and has managed to score one-seventh of Raleigh's runs for the season. |

2. Devin Smotherman - P - ORL This converted reliever has reeled of five straight wins, not allowing more than a run in any of them. His 2.82 ERA would place him third in the Conference if he qualified for innings, but we did get lucky to see Bill Koontz and his run-support inflated 10 wins sit on the bench the whole game. |

3. Pedro
Valdes - P - LSV Granted 4 All-Stars from a team that is 35-55 at the break may sound a little wrong, but Pedro is one of the huge bright spots on a dismal team. His 2.72 ERA is really even better than you think, considering 6 of his 14 runs were given up in 2/3 of an inning in two really bad outings. He leads the Mirage in wins, ERA and pretty much any pitching category. But we're pretty sure the Vincent Jose, with his nearly triple ERA, was a far better selection. |

4.
Randy Rodgers - SS - LSV This team doesn't have much going for it right now, so why not send the players deserving to the game. There isn't much in the West at short, and we hardly think that Douglas Donati was the only one worthy of his All-Star selection. Of course we did need the 400 outfielders from the West. |
|
5. Manny Ramirez - OF - WNS Sure the guy held out the first month of the season, and has only hit 16 homers in 204 at bats, but would you have rather seen at least one swing from his mighty lumber or those two pitchers not even throw a pitch? I think you know our answer. |
